The Bible is different from other books. It has inherent transforming ability that no other book has. That’s why Scripture says the Word of God is Spirit and Life. It is inspired by God Himself! Imagine leaning over to God’s mouth to hear directly from Him by reading and studying His Word and gazing directly at Him by looking into His Word.
The transforming evidences of the Word is numerous that I can’t list all. It’s so deep and wide that you can’t get to the length and breath of it. The more you dig, the more you see and experience new things.
Think about how weak and malnourished you would be if you missed your meal for several days. That is the same thing that happens when you stay away from God’s Word. Also think about how healthy and strong you will be when you eat well consistently, the same happens when you take the Word of God as your daily food.
You don’t know how much transformation that can happen to your life until you become committed to reading and studying God’s Word.
Some amazing things that happens to a man who feasts on God’s Word are:
1. Your soul and spirit will be refreshed: Daily reading of the Bible is like the feeling you have when you take your bath. It cleanses your soul and refreshes your spirit. You would feel like an unclogging taking place inside you. You will become renewed day by day. I can almost literally feel the refreshing effect when I study God’s Word! It’s that effective.
2. It will boost your faith in God: Promises and prophecies begins to crystallize in your heart, hence, strengthening your faith. Your current situation may not be pleasant but there’s this solid unshakable faith in you that you cannot explain.
You will start seeing so much possibilities. Unbelief will be scarce in your heart. The Word will become a stronghold in your heart and it will hard for anything contrary to penetrate it.
3. It changes your orientation about life: gradually, your thought pattern gets altered, you now begin to view matters through the lens of scriptures. You no longer subscribe to the general way of thinking. People begin to wonder what is happening to you – it is the Word that is breaking your own ideologies and replacing it with God’s ideologies.
Everything you say and do will now center around God and His Word. One way to detect a man who has been sitting with the Word is to check the way he approaches matters and the content of his speeches. Scriptures will not be far from his lips
4. You will pray differently: The Word of God will shape your prayers. Your prayer points will become inclined towards the mind of God rather than just your personal desires.
The Word of God is like a fuel that makes the fire bigger It will make your prayers rich and you will not lack what to pray about. When you’re praying, scriptures will start to flood your heart and your prayer will keep sparking like how fire sparks when fuel is added to it.
You will have an accurate perspective to prayer, therefore you’d pray with understanding which will birth more results.
5. You will not be anxious: The Word of God is therapeutic. The more time you spend reading, studying and meditating on God’s Word, the less anxious you will be. It will be as though the things that used to have grip on your mind and make you panic begins to lose their hold.
You’ll stop being agitated and worried. The Word begins to take more space in your mind and anxiety will check out. You will hardly be moved by anything and you will live your life like you have everything under control whereas you know that it’s the Word that’s fortifying you.
6. It will become easy for you to live pure: “How can a young man stay on the path of purity?” it says in Psalms, “By living according to Your word.”
The more you feast on the word, the more conscious you are of what the Word says and the easier it is for you to say “No” to the tempter.
For instance, the bulk of Romans 6 talks about your new reality after the cross. Dwelling on that chapter alone ingrains in your consciousness the possibility of living a sinless life.
Constant study of the Word is a non-negotiable if you are a believer. And its effect on you, no other book or thing can produce!
